Castell
Malgwyn is an ideal location for fly-fishing holidays. The River Teifi runs alongside the hotel and has a path with access to deep holding pools for salmon
and sea-trout (sewin) and gravel runs suitable for wading. Enjoy an evening's fishing without that long trek home in
the dark. Watch the abundant and varied river wildlife during day time
whilst fishing
for salmon and brown trout.
To
help fishermen, there is a Tackle Room to store gear and wet clothes. Early
dinners and flasks can be arranged. Landed fish can be stored until departure.
Access to the hotel at any time.
Guests
can obtain permits at the hotel to fish the Teifi Trout Association's 25 miles
of waters, giving an endless list of pools and runs to find the ideal spot to test
and prove your fishing skills.
Setting off in the dark to fish a
strange water can be unnerving. Castell Malgwyn is the home of the Teifi River
Guides, who will advise you and escort you to the best spots on the TTA waters.
Sea fishing for Bass etc. can be
from the shore or by boat in the Teifi estuary at Cardigan.
After the end of the game fishing
season, or if the water is unsuitable, the fishing lakes at Glandwyr fishery and
Rhydlewis fishery are a 20 minute drive away and the large well stocked fishery at Llys Fran Reservoir is approximately 35 minutes
away. A list of lakes within
the area is available at the hotel.
Coaching
The Teifi River Guides also run
courses in the hotel grounds and provide
expert tuition and advice for all levels of fisherman - from complete beginners
to the more experienced angler.
Amongst the services they provide
are: fishing by night, salmon fishing by day, salt water fly fishing, still
water trout fishing, river tours and tuition. The Guides are WSTAA and TTA
recognised Guides and coaches, and the coaching includes discussions on tactics,
flies, pools and safety.
